Winter OPEN DAY 12 november

Winter is coming and I’m preparing our warehouse space for our OPEN DAY. Pop in for a coffee and some interior inspiration! I’ll be presenting the latest fabrics and wallpapers from various brands such as Nina Campbell, Osborne & Little, Warwick, ROMO, Farrow & Ball and many more…

I also have a selection of beautiful Danish design from WOUD, including the MONO chair. This chair has been created with such an innovative material, it looks like it was folded like a piece of paper. I also have some vintage chairs, which have been reupholstered in Designers Guild fabric. Anyway, at 500m2, there is enough to see! Or just sit back and relax by the woodburner flicking through some lovely magazines…

I hope to meet you! You are welcome between 11.00am – 15.00pm on Sunday 12th November 2017, Beesdseweg 1, Culemborg.

Summer drinks

It’s a hot week in the Netherlands and we try to eat outside whenever we can. While thinking of where to keep our drinks cold, I found this lovely metal plantholder, the Pidestall by WOUD.

So, instead of using it as a plantholder inside, I decided to use it outside as a minibar this summer. It looks lovely on the table and it’s easy to bring back inside whenever it is time to go back inside…

The Norwegian designer Emilie Stahl Carlsen designed the Pidestall flowerpot in three different sizes in the colours blue, red and grey. WOUD is a Danish design brand with high quality design rooted in the Nordic design heritage and collaborates with upcoming design talents. Each of the designers have a unique style and their designs are handpicked to strengthen and share the vision of WOUD. www.woud.dk

Summer Open Day 21 May

Currently I’m styling everything together for our OPEN DAY on Sunday 21st May. This time it’ll be a summer theme with bright colours and outdoor fabrics. I’ve redecorated some old deckchairs and made cushions for on the picnic bench. Today I’m finishing off some huge cushions to create a lounge area. I’ve used the beautiful colours Canton, Mister David, Marigold and Purple Brown by Little Greene paint as the start of my moodboard and found lots of nice fabrics to match these colours.

This time we also have a stock clearance with huge reductions of nice Danish items by WOUD Design which have been used at fairs and styling shoots. Pop in for a coffee and some inspiration! We are happy to help. You are welcome between 11.00am – 15.00pm. Beesdseweg 1, Culemborg.

The love of interior design

I love interior design, don’t you? It has always been the focus throughout my working life, whether it’s promoting a gorgeous product or styling it. For me, the two go happily together; once you’ve created a beautiful picture and you know how to write a story about it, it’ll be easy to promote it. With this in mind, and heaps of work experience I started my own PR & Styling agency 10 years ago this summer.

When I started as a stylist back in 1993, I moved from Marie Claire magazine to a small PR agency in London. There I used my creativity in styling home products and learning all about writing press releases, press relations and organising events. It was a bit like working for AbFab…

I developed an eye in noticing upcoming trends and translating them to the press with press packs and look books. By the way, this was way before the digital age, where we faxed everything and worked with trannies (transparencies) and couriers to take them to our clients…

It has not been easy, over the years many people didn’t understand my agency. Was I doing corporate communications or giving interior advice? Well, I am doing both and here I am today. Sticking with my gut feeling on how to do it. And although I recently said I would only focus on interior styling (and even left my PR story out on my new website), it now happens that I’ve excepted a lovely PR project! So the PR story will soon be back on my website 😉

Osborne & Little 2017

Osborne & Little presented their Spring 2017 collection to the trade today. Gorgeous fabrics and wallpapers were shown in the main theme of Enchanted Gardens. It showed the English love with gardens and nature, with names such as Meadow, Rainforest, Bamboo and Woodland.

The other lovely collection was inspired by The Mikado operetta with luxurious woven fabrics in vibrant colours. Pure cotton velvets were shown in joyful combinations with glamorous patterns.

Intirio 2017

The central theme at this year’s fabric fair was ‘hygge’, Danish for homely & hugs, or Dutch for ‘gezelligheid’. It translated into interior theme’s such as warmth and cosiness which was shown in the many colourful fabrics and wallpapers such as warm reds, burnt oranges and deep blues.

An explosion of colour with a soft huggable feel will hopefully continue this luxurious interior trend.

My love of Danish Design.

Manufacturers and designers have embraced wood and organic finishes at this year’s furniture fair in Germany. Brands such as WOUD and Andersen have made unique and beautiful products using natural materials. Wood is the trend of 2017 and this trend is likely to continue, combining simple furniture design with gorgeous fabrics such as wool, velvet and leather.

a warehouse

Exciting news; after six months of hard work, we’ve changed an old empty warehouse into an industrial creative hub where we can develop our interior designs even more with a sewing studio, a styling studio and a photo studio.

I love working there, as it has so much space! It used to be an old factory where they made wooden furniture, and you can still smell the wood. With the high ceilings and its concrete floor, it feels very old and industrial, nothing like the offices you can rent these days. Here I can create beautiful things for my styling projects…

a sewing studio

Last week, the industrial sewing machines have arrived! The sewing studio is now complete, with various machines in its place. We were so happy that we’ve been sewing all week. Aprons, cushions and made-to-measure curtains are easy now.

Nothing like a bit of handwork…

a lazy Sunday afternoon

Imagine this: A lazy Sunday afternoon drinking freshly brewed coffee made by a barista. Listening to old music played by this nice man on an old gramophone, sitting in front of a fire on a beautiful sofa, flicking though magazines or talking to friends…

You can experience this at the opening of Pleun interiors on December 11th, from 15.00 hours to 17.00 hours at her creative workplace in Culemborg.
